Description
The Palisade Historical Society's Monthly History Talks are the second Thursday of the month at the historic Palisade Gymnasium/Auditorium, known as the Palisade Community Gym, at 711 Iowa Avenue in Palisade. February's History Talk is The History of the Palisade Library! Palisade has had a public library since the 1930s, starting in Grace Duncan’s living room on Bower Avenue. With four locations since then, the determination of a group of dedicated volunteers of initially the Library Board and currently the Library Auxiliary, have found ways to continue making it the successful community resource it is. The current Palisade Library is located in what was the Independent Lumber Company offices at 119 West Third Street in 1911. It has been closed since mid-November for needed ceiling repairs. Join us as Jill Delavan, longtime Palisade Library Auxiliary Board Member, shares this unique history of the Palisade Library. The talk will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 12th at the Palisade Community Gym, but feel free to come early to socialize! This program is open to the public to learn more about Palisade's unique history in a relaxed environment. No reservations are needed. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated. As food and beverages will not be available for purchase on site, people can bring their own to the program.
