Community Hospital Invites Public to Attend Open House for the NEW James Pulsipher Regional Cancer and Monument View Medical Plaza

Mesa County, CO - Community Hospital will host a public open house for the new James Pulsipher Regional Cancer Center and Monument View Medical Plaza on Saturday, January 6 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. The public open house celebration will begin with a ribbon cutting at 10:00 am with the area Chambers of Commerce in front of the cancer center entrance, located on the west side of Monument View Medical Plaza, adjacent to Community Hospital.

“We are extremely proud of this project,” said Chris Thomas, President and CEO for Community Hospital. “This project is our hospital’s commitment to our community and our partners to build a state-of-the-art regional cancer center and continue to develop our cancer treatment program. Grand Valley Oncology has become the premier cancer center on the Western Slope because of the incredible nurses, providers and staff,” added Thomas.

Community Hospital broke ground on the nearly 130,000 square foot facility September 2021. With the growth and continued success of Community Hospital, the need for additional space is paramount in order to better support the health care needs of western Colorado and eastern Utah. Monument View Medical Plaza will feature not only the new regional cancer center but additional service lines as well including cardiology, pulmonology, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, women’s health and more.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve cancer patients in our community for the past 30 years”, said JoAnne Virgilio, DO, medical oncologist at Community Hospital’s Grand Valley Oncology. “Building the new regional cancer center has been a dream of ours since joining Community Hospital in 2014. Our oncology team is extremely humbled by the overwhelming support of our community. To see this project finally come to fruition is very exciting and we look forward to serving cancer patients in the Grand Valley and surrounding areas for many more years to come,” added Dr. Virgilio.
